Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division Field Operations Weekly Report February 8 -14, 2015 This report is a broad sampling of events that have taken place in the past week, but does not include all actions taken by the Law Enforcement Division. For additional news and updates, "Like" the LE Division's Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/gadnrle Region I- Calhoun (Northwest) CHEROKEE COUNTY On February 8th, Cpl. Byron Young and Cpl. Lee Burns patrolled Allatoona Lake for fishing activity. The officers checked 15 boats and 26 fishing license. One citation was issued for operating a vessel with insufficient number of PFD's (lifejackets). The officers checked Allatoona regular Eric Murray catching White Bass and Hybrids. CARROLL COUNTY On February 14th, Corporal Eric Brown and Teacher Mark Lashley along with seniors from Central High School installed 15 wood duck boxes in Carrollton. The boxes are located on the Hobb's Farm property which is part of the City of Carrollton Parks and Recreation areas. The program was funded by Carrollton Parks and Recreation. The boxes were built by students at Central High School in Carrollton. FULTON COUNTY On February 14th, RFC Chad Cox and RFC Daniel Gray taught a hunter education class in Sandy Springs. A total of 27 students were certified during the class. Region II- Gainesville (Northeast) HART COUNTY On February 12th, Cpl. Craig Fulghum was notified by South Carolina DNR about a missing boater on Lake Hartwell. The subject had put in on the South Carolina side of the lake and was reported missing the night before. RFC Tim Vickery and Cpl. Craig Fulghum found the subject's kayak on the bank on the Georgia Side. Cpl. Adam Loudermilk responded and assisted with the search using Side Scan sonar and an ROV. Region III- Thomson (East Central) CLARKE COUNTY On February 8th Sgt. Brian Carter, Cpl. Mark Patterson, and RFC Tim Butler patrolled municipal lakes and public fishing areas. The Rangers checked twenty fishermen and several boats. Violations of fishing without a license, operating a vessel without personal flotation devices, and operating a vessel without registration were documented during the patrol. ELBERT COUNTY On February 13th Cpl. Julian Wilkins patrolled several public boat ramps in the county for fishing and boating activity. During this patrol, Cpl. Wilkins encountered a subject that was operating a vehicle with a suspended driver's license. The individual was also found to be in possession of marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. The subject was turned over to the Elbert County Sheriff's Department. LINCOLN COUNTY On February 8th, Cpl. Ryan Swain and Sgt. Doyte Chaffin assisted Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Investigators recover a stolen vessel off of the Savannah River on Clarks Hill Lake. The vessel was towed to Gills Point Rec. Area and secured. Region IV- Macon (West Central) No activity to report. Region V- Albany (Southwest) TERRELL COUNTY On February 14th, Rangers Quinn Fogle, Jim Atchley and Steve Robinson were working complaints of illegal hunting, when three individuals in a car were observed shooting at deer from the road. The driver and passenger who shot were charged with hunting from a public road, hunting from a motor vehicle and hunting out of season. The other passenger in the car had outstanding warrants from Coffee County Georgia, for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and violation of Georgia's controlled substance act. This passenger was also found to be in possession of marijuana on this day and was charged with violation of Georgia's controlled substance act. The three offenders were arrested and transported to Terrell County Sheriff's Office for booking. Region VI- Metter (Southeast) No activity to report.
