This manual is one more tool preservationists can use to spur economic development while retaining those characteristics that make their neighborhoods unique." Financed in part by a Preserve America grant awarded to HPD by the National Park Service, the Primer includes information about: q the survey and inventory of historic properties q the evaluation and treatment of historic properties q tools and strategies available to communities for local preservation planning q preservation partners and programs q outreach activities q funding sources and tax incentives for historic properties q applicable preservation legislation In addition, the Primer highlights specific preservation projects and resource types from all over Georgia. Information for the Primer was compiled by HPD staff, with contributions from preservationists across the state, and various local, regional and state organizations.
