Its intent is to provide to constituents and the general public a list of design and consulting professionals with interest and experience in dealing with historic and archaeological resources as they seek professional services and expertise when undertaking preservation projects. The Consultants Directory is a self-nominated directory. As such, inclusion in this Directory does not represent an endorsement, recommendation, evaluation or assumption of responsibility for the quality of work of any listed consultant. There is no representation implicit or implied that any work product produced by those listed will meet federal or state requirements. There is no representation implicit or implied that the information provided by the consultant is accurate - - it is made available as provided. Users of the Directory should contact at least three consultants and check references with previous clients as part of their own individual investigation and judgment regarding the reputation, cost, and quality of any particular firm. First time users especially, but also prospective applicants and repeat users, are strongly encouraged to read the User Instructions before utilizing the Directory. The Directory is divided into eight sub-directories based on discipline: Archaeology Architectural History Engineering Historic Architecture Historic Landscape Architecture Historic Preservation Historic Preservation Planning History Prospective applicants are welcome to submit a Consultants Directory Data Sheet and completed information packet. Please note that all applications are reviewed before posting, after which they will be added to the Consultants Directory at its next update. For corrections or changes to your firm's existing listing, please contact Candy Henderson at candy.henderson@dnr.state.ga.us ************************************************************************ Notice of Amended Rules for State Income Tax Credit In May 2009 Gov. Perdue signed into law HB 851 amending the current Georgia State Income Tax Credit Program for Rehabilitated Historic Property. The new law offers a credit equal to 25% of qualified rehabilitation expenditures. The legislation also removes the existing $5000 cap and provides for a maximum cap of $100,000 for residential properties and a maximum cap of $300,000 for income-producing properties. Over the summer HPD worked with the Department of Revenue to draft amended Rules for the program. On September 23 these amended Rules were brought before the Historic Preservation Committee of the Board of Natural Resources. We are now entering the formal public comment period. You may visit HPD's Web site at www.gashpo.org to see an exact copy and synopsis of the proposed Rules. Copies may be viewed at HPD and copies can be mailed to you upon request. The proposed Rules will be considered for adoption by the Board of Natural Resources at its October 28 Historic Preservation Committee meeting and at its Board meeting on October 29. The meetings are open to the public. For further information, please contact Mary Ann Eaddy at 404-651-5283 or at mary.ann.eaddy@dnr.state.ga.us. ************************************************************************ Recent National Register listings The following properties have recently been listed in the National Register: Harris-Ramsey-Norris House, Brooks County - September 5, 2008 The Harris-Ramsey-Norris House is significant in the area of architecture as an excellent and intact example of a circa 1870 central hallway cottage with rear ell. The house is one of the earliest in Quitman and among the oldest central hallway cottages in Brooks County. Dewey City Historic District, Thomas County - August 28, 2008 The Dewey City historic district is significant in the areas of community planning and development and African American ethnic heritage as a good example of a planned subdivision established during an era of housing segregation. Migration from farms to jobs in Thomasville drew new residents. Periods of significant growth occurred in the 1920s and after World War II. Pine Mountain Gold Mine, Douglas County - August 28, 2008 The Pine Mountain Gold Mine is significant in the area of settlement/exploration because it hastened white settlement on lands in west Georgia that had been part of the Creek Territory. The discovery of gold on Pine Mountain in 1826 preceded the well-known Dahlonega gold rush and was among the first gold rushes in the United States. Pasaquan, Marion County - August 27, 2008 Pasaquan was the artistic creation of Eddie Owens Martin, a fortuneteller, selftaught artist, and native of Marion County. In 1957, Martin inherited the family farm outside of Buena Vista and spent the remainder of his life transforming the farm's buildings and landscape into a work of visionary art.
