Come spend time and learn about preservation in the Friendly City! Downtown Tifton is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the larger Local Historic District, created in 1988, protects much of the historic commercial and residential areas of Tifton. As the City of Tifton has always supported preservation efforts and its preservation commissioners, it is appropriate that they are the host for our next historic preservation commission training. Please mark your calendars for May 20 21 and plan on attending this valuable training. It will be a wonderful opportunity to network with other commissioners and staff as we delve into the complicated issues that face preservation commissions: ensuring due process, surviving appeals, enforcement, understanding economic hardship, design review and more! Be on the lookout for details and registration information in the mail and online at http://www.uga.edu/gapc/training.htm ************************************************************************ Recent National Register listings Loeb, Sol--Garrett--Joy Building, 900 Front Ave. and 901 Broadway, Columbus, Muscogee County, was listed on March 15, 2005.
