Through text and color cartoon illustrations, Roy S. Dickens Jr. and James L. McKinley interpret Georgia's past with humor and intelligence and describe scientific archaeological investigations and the ethics that guide the discipline. A Teaching Handbook for use by middle school and high school educators is also available. The guide contains companion literature on topics in each book chapter, lesson plans, suggestions for grade appropriate archaeological class projects for group and individuals, points of discussion, and a glossary. This list will focus on 10 historic rural, suburban, or urban landscapes where people worked the land. Eligible landscapes include properties such as farms and ranches, shipyards, logging camps, railroad yards, fishing villages and other sites that are rich in cultural values. The CLF is particularly interested in places identified with a particular community, ethnic group or religious movement; or a site that is distinctively related to the ordinary working people who shaped the landscape. The deadline for nominations is September 30, 2003. Nomination forms for the 2004 list may be obtained by visiting the CLF's Web site at www.tclf.org/landslide/index.htm or by calling 202-483-0553. ************************************************************************ PRESERVATION GEORGIA ONLINE SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION Preservation Georgia Online is produced by the Historic Preservation Division (HPD) of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
