The mission of the King-Tisdell Cottage Foundation is to research, interpret, disseminate, and celebrate the history and culture of African Americans, with special emphasis on the Low Country region of the South. The Foundation operates the King-Tisdell Cottage, an African American heritage museum; the Beach Institute, a Freedman's Bureau school, which houses permanent collections, traveling exhibitions, and public programs; the Negro Heritage Trail Tour; and additional properties. Position Description: Reports to the Board of Directors of the KTCF and provides leadership, vision, and planning for the management of activities, programs, and business of the Foundation Represents the Foundation through the media and prepares and delivers speeches and presentations to the community. Set in a different location each week, the American Attic team will comb the country in search of artifacts and houses that tell us something new about the nation's history. American Attic is currently in production and looking for stories. American Attic is a series of 10 one-hour episodes, which PBS is scheduled to air in summer 2003. ************************************************************************ HABS/HAER/HALS SUMMER 2003 EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES The Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record/Historic American Landscapes Survey (HABS/HAER/HALS), a division of the National Park Service, seeks applications from qualified individuals for summer employment documenting historic sites and structures of architectural, landscape and technological significance throughout the country. Duties involve on-site fieldwork and preparation of historical reports and measured and interpretive drawings for the HABS/HAER Collection in the Prints and Photographs Division of the Library of Congress. Projects last approximately twelve weeks, beginning in May/June. Salaries range from $5,400 to approximately $9,200 for the summer, depending on job responsibility, project locality, and level of experience.
