This position works closely with the Environmental Review Coordinator and other Environmental Review staff in the Historic Preservation Division (HPD) of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Job responsibilities include providing technical and procedural assistance to project applicants, federal and state agencies, and local governments, and assisting the Environmental Review Coordinator in management of the program. Six grants were awarded to museums in Georgia: Omenala-Griot, Atlanta; Steffen Thomas Museum and Archives, Buckhead; Morgan County Foundation, Inc., Madison; William H. Reynolds Memorial Nature Preserve, Morrow; Oak Hill and the Martha Berry Museum, Mount Berry; and the Georgia Historical Society, Savannah. This one-time grant is designed specifically for small to mid-sized museums. The CAP grant and a minimal match by the grantee cover the cost of a general conservation assessment. For museums with building more than 50 years old, the CAP grant also provides funds for an architectural conservator.
