Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division Law Enforcement Section Field Operations Weekly Report November 7-13, 2010 This report is a broad sampling of events that have taken place in the past week, but does not include all actions taken by the Law Enforcement Section. Region I- Calhoun (Northwest) BARTOW COUNTY On November 6th, RFC Byron Young, RFC Brooks Varnell and his K-9 "Rock" responded to an in-progress complaint of hunting without permission on Corson Trail. "Rock" was able to track two men into the woods and both were found on the property of others hunting without permission. Both men were charged with hunting without permission and hunting without licenses and big game licenses. On November 6th, RFC Byron Young located a hunter off Euharlee Road in west Bartow County hunting for deer over apples he had placed at the location. While at the same location, RFC Young found another hunter who had killed an eight-point buck on the same property earlier in the morning. RFC Young contacted RFC Brooks Varnell and his K-9 "Rock" who arrived to assist. The Rangers and "Rock" were able to locate the area where the eight-point buck had been killed and it was heavily baited with corn. After collecting evidence, the Rangers spoke with the hunter who admitted he had killed the buck over bait. The man was charged with hunting big game over bait and possession of illegally taken wildlife. The eight-point buck was confiscated and donated to a needy family. On November 6th, RFC Brooks Varnell, his K-9 "Rock" and RFC Byron Young foot patrolled an area of Worthington Road. "Rock" was able to locate a hunter sitting on the ground 40 yards from a corn feeder and an acorn block. The hunter was charged with hunting big game over bait. On November 10th, RFC Byron Young received a call from a landowner who reported persons hunting on their property without permission. Ranger Young responded to Roland Springs Drive where he located a vehicle parked on the landowner's property. Ranger Young foot patrolled and found one hunter in the woods deer hunting without the required fluorescent orange. He continued looking and found another hunter. Both hunters had parked and walked through private property to get to land that they did have permission to hunt. Ranger Young issued a citation for the hunter who was not wearing his safety orange and warned both about utilizing the property of others to access their hunting land. CHEROKEE COUNTY On November 6th, RFC Bart Hendrix was patrolling Arnold Mill Road in Cherokee County. He had previously located an area baited with corn. RFC Hendrix found a deer hunter in the woods hunting directly over the bait and also hunting deer without the required fluorescent safety orange. RFC Hendrix charged the man with hunting big game over bait and hunting deer without fluorescent orange. On November 10th, Wildlife Technician David Shattuck, who was investigating a serious dumping case of 38 barrels found on Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area, contacted Sgt. Mike Barr. The barrels contained corrosive chemicals. Sgt. Barr went to the old cotton mill in Canton where it was suspected that the barrels had originated. Sgt. Barr was able to determine that the barrels had been the property of a roofing company who formerly rented space at the cotton mill. On November 11th, RFC Bart Hendrix picked up on the investigation and was able to locate 21 more barrels dumped on Ketter Road in Holly Springs. Ranger Hendrix was able to secure the identity of the person who dumped the barrels. Technician Shattuck is continuing the investigation into the possible commercial dumping violations. COBB COUNTY On November 13th, RFC Brooks Varnell and his K-9 "Rock" were called to the Hays Farm Subdivision on Battle Creek Road next to the Kennesaw Battlefield National Park. The caller reported seeing a person dressed in camouflage headed into the woods from a truck parked at the back of a subdivision. "Rock" was able to track the person and found a men artifact hunting for civil war artifacts with a metal detector. The man had found 4 bullets and a percussion cap. "Rock" and RFC Varnell also found a fresh blood trail where a deer had been shot. They followed and found two men hunting with bows. The hunters did have permission to be on the property. The artifact hunter did not have permission and was charged with artifact hunting without permission. FANNIN COUNTY On November 5th, RFC Cody Jones arrested two suspects for hunting deer at night, hunting from a public road, and hunting from a motor vehicle. The arrest came after RFC Jones had received complaints of illegal hunting in the area and while staking out the area observed the suspects searching for deer with a spotlight while driving along a public road. GILMER COUNTY On November 5th, Sgt. John VanLandingham issued a citation to a subject for hunting big game over bait. HARALSON COUNTY On November 3rd, RFC Chad Cox received a complaint of someone hunting without permission. RFC Cox located a man in a climbing tree stand. The hunter was cited for hunting big game over bait and hunting without license. He was warned for hunting without big game license and hunting without fluorescent orange. On November 6th, RFC Chad Cox was checking an area that had been baited with corn. RFC Cox located a male subject hunting in the baited area. He was cited for hunting big game over bait and warned for hunting without fluorescent orange. MURRAY COUNTY On November 6th, Sgt. John VanLandingham and Cpl. James Keener issued a citation to a subject for hunting deer without the required fluorescent orange. PAULDING COUNTY On October 24th, RFC Chad Cox was on patrol in a rural part of Paulding County. RFC Cox located a truck parked in front of a locked cable. Approximately thirty minutes later a male came out of the woods with camo pants on. RFC Cox spoke with him and he said he had not been hunting. After he left, RFC Cox searched the woods and found a loaded rifle. RFC Cox then located the hunter and cited him for hunting without license, hunting without big game license and hunting deer without fluorescent orange. On October 25th, RFC Chad Cox located a deer stand that had been baited with corn and salt. Later the evening, RFC Cox returned to check the stand and located a male subject hunting. While speaking with the hunter, RFC Cox could smell alcohol. The hunter stated he had drank a beer at lunch. RFC Cox located an empty beer can and three full cans in the hunters backpack. After completing some field exercises the hunter was taken to the Paulding County Jail. He was charged with hunting under the influence and hunting big game over bait. PICKENS COUNTY On October 30th, Cpl. James Keener was checking baited areas around the county when he made contact with a man hunting one of these areas. Citations were issued to the man for hunting big game over bait and hunting without fluorescent orange. WHITFIELD COUNTY On November 6th, RFC Eddie Tompkins was checking a baited area when he observed a hunter walking away from the baited area and into a nearby residence. A short time later the subject returned in a vehicle and confronted RFC Tompkins demanding the ranger leave his property and making threats to the ranger if he did not. The subjected was placed under arrest. An illegal burn site was later located at the subject's residence containing wire, insulation, and other garbage. The subject was charged with obstruction of a peace officer, terroristic threats or acts, hunting big game over bait, and illegal burning of waste. Region II- Gainesville (Northeast) HART COUNTY On October 13th, RFC Josh Chambers assisted the Georgia State Patrol with a road check. He checked several deer hunters with deer during the check. RFC Chambers issued two citations for Failure to Record Deer Harvest. FRANKLIN COUNTY On October 7th, RFC Tim Vickery received a call from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office about possible spotlighting. He notified Cpl. Bill Bunch to assist. When the rangers arrived in the area, a landowner had followed the night hunters until a deputy could stop them. When the rangers arrived, the two suspected night hunters were transported to the Franklin County Jail and interviewed. Both wrote statements and were charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a public road, and hunting from a motor vehicle. Region III- Thomson (East Central) Region IV- Macon (West Central) JASPER COUNTY On the morning of November 8th, Capt. Barry Fincher received a call from the Sheriff's Office in Floyd County. Floyd County investigators told the Captain they had reason to believe that a subject wanted for 7 counts of Child Molestation had fled their county about a month ago and they believed he might be hiding out on Oconee National Forest in Jasper County. Captain Fincher contacted RFC Billy Bryant and the two Rangers met about noon to begin checking the forest for the subject. Rangers found the wanted man and took him into custody at Wise Creek. The subject was turned over for Jasper County Sheriff's Office for transport to the county jail. Floyd County picked him up the following day. On the morning of November 9th, RFC Billy Bryant received a call from the Sheriff's Office in reference to trespassing. Bryant responded to the area and located two subjects who were illegally deer hunting on private property. Both subjects were charged with hunting without permission. On the evening of November 9th, RFC Billy Bryant received a call from a landowner in reference to subjects hunting from the road. Bryant responded to the area and was told by the landowner that one of the subjects was in the woods looking for a deer when he arrived. Bryant asked the men about the incident and the suspects denied everything. RFC Bryant deployed K-9 Drake and back-tracked the suspects through the woods where he located a cigarette butt that matched the suspect's cigarettes. Drake also located a recently fired .270 shell casing that had been buried near the cigarette butt. Bryant sent Drake out on a large search of the area and did not locate any blood or a deer. Bryant searched the suspect's vehicle and located a recently fired .270 rifle in a case. Bryant confronted the subjects with the evidence located by K-9 Drake. The shooter confessed to shooting from the road and told Bryant that he missed the deer. The man was charged with hunting from a public road, hunting from a motor vehicle, hunting without a license, and hunting without a big game license. JONES COUNTY On November 7th, Cpl. Bill Goodson cited one hunter for hunting over bait and hunting without a license. Later that same day Cpl. Goodson cited one hunter for hunting without permission. The charge stemmed from a landowner's in-progress complaint. All charged persons were given court dates in Jones County Probate Court. On November 13th, Cpl. Lynn Stanford and Sgt. Bo Kelly checked a hunting club where baited deer stands had been located by Cpl. Bill Goodson. Two hunters were checked and cited for hunting over bait, hunting w/out orange vest and hunting w/out license. MERIWETHER COUNTY On the night of November 12th, Cpl. Keith Waddell was on patrol in east Meriwether County when he noticed a truck traveling north on a public dirt road. Waddell observed a spotlight shining from the front passenger side of the truck, alternately shining both sides of the roadway. Cpl. Waddell followed the vehicle and repeatedly observed the spotlight being shined. The officer activated his blue lights to stop the vehicle and, upon making contact with passengers in the vehicle, Waddell encountered three male subjects with two loaded deer rifles. The spotlight was still plugged into vehicle power outlet and two opened bottles of whiskey were visible. The suspects were placed under arrest and handcuffed. Cpl. Waddell then noticed one suspect reaching into his pocket, drop something onto the ground, and then make an attempt to hide with his feet. Waddell searched the area and located a marijuana smoking device and a small bag of marijuana. The three suspects were transported to the Meriwether County Detention Center where they were booked and charged for hunting deer at night, hunting from a public road, hunting from a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in the passenger compartment of a vehicle, and possession of marijuana. MUSCOGEE COUNTY On November 11th, RFC Jeremy Bolen and Sgt. Jim Bradfield attended the Ducks Unlimited banquet in Columbus. RFC Bolen spoke to the crowd about the upcoming duck season and the legal requirements pertaining to duck hunting. PUTNAM COUNTY On November 12th, Cpl. Lynn Stanford and Sgt. Bo Kelly assisted Game Management personnel on Cedar Creek WMA with a managed deer hunt; rangers cited one hunter for hunting without the required fluorescent orange. On November 13th, Cpl. Stanford and Sgt. Kelly checked a hunter who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. A criminal history on the subject revealed that he was a convicted felon and the hunter was arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed a quantity of drugs upon his person. TALBOT COUNTY On November 9th, RFC Jeremy Bolen and Intern Blake Middleton were checking baited deer stands on a hunting club when they located one hunter in one of the stands. The hunter was issued citations for hunting big game over bait and hunting without a big game license. He was issued warnings for hunting without a license and hunting deer without fluorescent orange. TROUP COUNTY On the night of November 14th, Sgt. Jim Bradfield was watching a complaint area when he heard a call on Troup County's 911 system about "shining deer" in the north part of the county. A complainant had observed a vehicle using a spotlight, followed the vehicle, got the tag number, and called the 911 center to report the violation. Sgt. Bradfield, along with two deputies, responded to the area. Bradfield was familiar with the subject from the address associated with the tag and, after checking the general where the vehicle was seen, checked the subject's residence. The vehicle was located parked behind the house. Sgt. Bradfield and a deputy interviewed the subject and his juvenile son about the incident. Both admitted to going to a parts store to purchase a 12 volt adapter for their spotlight and on the way home they tried the spotlight in several locations looking for deer. The adult was issued a citation for blinding wildlife. UPSON COUNTY On November 6th, at approximately 5:00 pm, Cpl. Susan Morris received a complaint of a landowner finding two hunters hunting on his property without permission. The landowner was standing by with the hunters. Upon arrival, Cpl. Morris found that several people were standing around arguing about the situation. After talking with the landowner and the hunters, she determined that a person with no authority gave the hunters permission to hunt the property. Written warnings were given to the hunters and they were told not to come back to the property. On November 6th, at approximately 7:30 pm, Cpl. Susan Morris received a complaint regarding a hunter hunting from a deer stand on a property line who had shot a deer and retrieved it from property that he did not have permission to be on. After investigating the situation, Cpl. Morris discovered the hunter did not have the proper license to hunt deer and was charged with hunting big game without a license. The hunter was given verbal guidance in reference to retrieving game from another person's property without permission. Region V- Albany (Southwest) LEE COUNTY On November 7th, RFC Ben Roberts and RFC Randy James responded to a call about someone hunting without permission. The officers located the hunter who was charged with hunting without permission and hunting without fluorescent orange. WORTH COUNTY On November 9th, Cpl. Scott Carroll and RFC Al Greer responded to a call about someone holding a deer in a pen. The officers found a small deer and released the animal. The person holding the deer was warned for holding a game animal without a permit. TURNER COUNTY On November 3rd, RFC Al Greer responded to a call about someone dragging a deer out of the woods at night. The officer found the person bringing a small buck out of the woods and determined it had been shot earlier in the afternoon. The hunter was charged with hunting without a license and hunting without a big game license RANDOLPH COUNTY On November 13th, RFC patrolled Randolph County for hunting activity. During his patrols one individual was cited for hunting big game over bait. On November 14th, at 0700 hrs RFC Holley was investigating a complaint of individuals hunting over bait and without licenses in the northern portion of the county when he located two non-resident hunters on the property. It was determined that neither individual possessed any licenses and that both hunters were hunting deer over bait. During the investigation, RFC Holley learned that one of the hunters had unlawfully taken an eight point over bait the previous day. Both subjects were cited for non-resident hunting without license and without big game license as well as for hunting big game over bait. The deer was also confiscated. A third individual that was hunting on an adjacent property was also cited for hunting big game over bait. At 11:15 hrs RFC Holley located an individual hunting in central Randolph County. While checking the hunter, it was determined that he was hunting without a license and without a big game license. A check of the area revealed that the individual was also hunting over bait. While checking the area, RFC Holley found pooled blood near one of the bait piles. Further investigation revealed that the hunter had taken a spiked buck over bait the previous evening. The hunter was cited for hunting without a license, hunting big game without a big game license, hunting big game over bait and for taking an illegal antlered deer from a QDM / antler restricted county. SUMTER COUNTY On November 12th, Cpl. Tommy Lawrence received an anonymous tip that someone had killed an alligator illegally. When Cpl. Lawrence got in the area, he saw a large crowd of people gathered in one spot, a bloody hatchet and knife lying on a brick BBQ pit and a cooler with blood on it. Inside the BBQ pit was the hide from an alligator tail. Inside the cooler were a quartered deer and an alligator tail. Cpl. Lawrence found more alligator parts behind the house in a wooded area, and eventually found the body of the alligator, which had been shot twice in the head. Cpl. Lawrence found 2 bullet holes in the head. A citation was issued to the suspect for illegal possession of alligator parts. CRISP COUNTY On November 13th, RFC Clint Martin and Cpl. Tommy Lawrence were working a night deer hunting complaint when around 11:00 pm the officers observed two subjects hunting from a vehicle. The two men were arrested and booked at the Crisp County jail and charged with hunting deer at night, hunting from a vehicle and hunting big game from a public road. CLAY COUNTY During a weekend patrol RFC Jim Atchley cited six subjects for hunting deer without orange, one for hunting over bait and four others for hunting license violations. WEBSTER COUNTY On Wednesday November 10th, Sgt. Butch Potter and Cpl. Steve Robinson investigated a complaint of hunting big game over bait. After a search of the complaint property one individual was issued a citation for violating the state QDM rule. Sgt. Butch Potter investigated a complaint of hunting over bait Saturday morning. Three hunters were found and cited for hunting big game over bait and hunting without fluorescent orange. CHATTAHOOCHEE COUNTY On November 8th, Cpl. Steve Robinson responded to a hunting without permission complaint in Chattahoochee County. After an investigation that included talking with the landowner, two individuals were issued warnings for hunting without permission. On November 10th, Cpl. Steve Robinson was patrolling Chattahoochee County on River Bend Road for deer hunting activity. Two individuals were issued citations for hunting feral hog over bait. EARLY COUNTY On November 11th, RFC Jeff Phillips was conducting a deer hunting patrol when he came upon a vehicle accident where a car hit a tree. The female operator of the vehicle was not injured, but was intoxicated. RFC Phillips turned the case over to the State Patrol, who arrested the operator for DUI. SEMINOLE COUNTY On November 11th, RFC Jeff Phillips responded to a call from the Assistant Manager at Seminole State Park, who stated that he had observed a deer hunter in a tree stand on the Park. RFC Phillips checked 2 hunters as they returned to their vehicle, where he issued both written warnings for the offense. One of the subjects was found to be a convicted felon, and warrants were taken for possession of a firearm by convicted felon. BROOKS COUNTY On November 11th, RFC Jon Penuel and RFC David Brady followed up on an investigation involving a deer that had been shot from the road and on property where no one was allowed to hunt. A concerned citizen provided RFC Penuel with a cell phone picture of the suspect's vehicle in the field at the time the deer was killed. RFC Penuel happened to see the vehicle from the picture at a local gas station and was able to get a tag number. After interviewing the owner of the vehicle, one subject was charged with hunting without permission. On November 13th, RFC David Brady and RFC Jon Penuel followed up on a night deer hunting investigation stemming from information they received from Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission officers. After following several leads the Rangers finally located the residence of one of the suspects. While interviewing the suspect it was determined that another suspect that had been involved in the incident was at the residence as well. After interviewing both subjects, the Rangers charged each subject with hunting deer at night and hunting from a motor vehicle. MITCHELL COUNTY On November 7th, RFC Davis investigated a complaint of hunting without permission. The violator was located and given a written warning for hunting without permission. COLQUITT/THOMAS COUNTIES On November 13th, Sgt. David Ruddell was watching an area to address night deer hunting violations. Just before midnight, a car approached the officer's location and the occupants began hunting the fields. The three occupants were each in possession of a loaded high-powered rifle, one of which was equipped with a laser-light scope. The subjects were charged with hunting deer at night and several other associated charges. COLQUITT COUNTY On November 13th, Cpl. Tommy Daughtrey was working a night deer hunting complaint when a call came over the radio from Colquitt 911 stating that a deer had just been shot in front of a residence near Cpl. Daughtrey's location. Cpl. Daughtrey responded to the location and learned that two subjects had been seen being dropped out of a vehicle after the deer was shot. Cpl. Daughtrey searched the area but could not locate anyone. At 2:00 am Cpl. Daughtrey noticed a vehicle stop several hundred yards down the road from the incident location. As Cpl. Daughtrey drove toward the stopped vehicle he could see two people standing in the ditch near the car. Cpl. Daughtrey activated his emergency lights and attempted to stop the two subjects as they ran into the woods. Cpl. Daughtrey then chased the subjects into the woods and immediately apprehended one of the subjects. Colquitt County deputies arrived and took custody of the first violator so Cpl. Daughtrey could continue his search for the second subject, who he eventually found. Both subjects were arrested and charged with obstruction of an officer, possession of marijuana, hunting deer at night and various other associated charges. One subject also had an outstanding warrant. Region VI- Metter (Southeast) Region VII- Brunswick (Coastal) BRYAN COUNTY On October 31st, Sgt. James Shelton, Cpl. Jay Morgan, and Ranger Jack Thain patrolled the St. Catherine's Sound area checking boaters and fishermen. One boater was cited for operating a boat under the influence after providing an Intoxilyzer test reading of .113. On October 31st, Cpl. Phillip Scott patrolled local boat ramps and cited one person for fishing without a license at Groveland boat ramp. CAMDEN COUNTY On November 12th, Major Stephen Adams located a vehicle in Camden County matching the description of a vehicle used in an armed robbery that had just occurred at a bank in Glynn County. Major Adams attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect fled in the vehicle at a high rate of speed. As he pursued the vehicle, other DNR Rangers in the area responded to his location using the Computer Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Locator in the DNR Law Enforcement vehicles and the Camden County Sheriff's Office was notified by radio. During the chase the suspect attempted twice to collide head-on with Major Adams patrol vehicle. After chasing the suspect for several minutes on paved and dirt roads, the suspect was able to elude Major Adams for a short time. Minutes later the vehicle was located in a nearby trailer park by a Camden County Deputy where Major Adams took the suspect into custody without incident. On November 9th, Sgt. John Harwell and RFC Rebekah Huson worked a boating incident in St. Andrews Sound involving a commercial shrimp trawler and a private yacht. While on autopilot, and the captain below deck, the yacht struck the outriggers and cables of the trawler. No one was injured in the incident. While on patrol, Cpl. Jesse Cook observed a vehicle sitting on the side of the road. Cpl. Cook stopped and ran the tag to check to see if it was stolen. A hit came back from the NCIC advising of a Missing/Endangered Person. Cpl. Cook approached the vehicle and observed a subject lying in the back seat. Cpl. Cook then called for backup and received information from GSP dispatch to use caution. The subject had been depressed and possessed a 9mm handgun. Deputies from the Camden County Sheriff's Office arrived and after opening the vehicle discovered that the subject had committed suicide. On November 6th, RFC Craig Smith was working a complaint of a subject taking over the limit of shrimp by cast net. RFC Smith located the subjects shrimping and found their vehicle at Meeting Street boat ramp. Once the subjects returned after several hours, RFC Smith checked their limit and found that they were 72 quarts over their 48-quart limit. The shrimp were confiscated and the subjects were cited for taking over the limit of shrimp by cast net and one subject was also cited for no fishing license. CHATHAM COUNTY On November 13th, RFC Randy Tinley and Cpl. Cindy Miller were on saltwater patrol in the Wassaw Sound area. We noticed a shrimp boat with no lights on dragging a shrimp net. The shrimp boat was boarded and two individuals were cited for using power drawn nets inside closed waters at night. The Captain of the vessel was also cited for operating a vessel at night without lights. 100 pounds of shrimp were confiscated along with 22 whiting and 8 flounder. On October 31st, RFC Chris Moore and RFC Randy Tinley patrolled the waters around the Ossabaw Island area for fishing violations. The two Rangers checked a boat with a variety of violations including fishing without licenses, insufficient life jackets, unregistered vessel, and illegally taking clams from a closed area. A total of nine citations were issued. On November 3rd, Cpl. Bill Bryson and Cpl. Cindy Miller patrolled the Wassaw Sound area and caught a shrimp trawler dragging inside closed waters. Three people were issued one citation each for using power drawn nets inside closed waters. (Shrimping in closed waters.) A total of 246 pounds of shrimp were confiscated along with five flounder, two red drum, and two whiting. GLYNN COUNTY On November 6th, while on normal patrol, Cpl. Chris Ridley and RFC Rebekah Huson came upon a vehicle thought to be that of a local hunter. Further inspection of the vehicle and GCIC inquiry revealed that the vehicle had been involved in a local armed robbery. Glynn Co. PD was notified and the vehicle was towed for processing. On November 6, 2010, RFC Rebekah Huson was contacted by GSP Pilot Brian Youghn to assist with FLIR in an effort to locate a missing Alzheimer's patient out of Macon, GA. On November 8th, Sgt. John Harwell gave a power-point presentation on Conservation Ranger duties to the Jekyll Island Presbyterian Church. On November 11th, while on patrol off of Hwy. 99, Sgt. Harwell issued a citation to a deer hunter for hunting deer without fluorescent orange. On November 13th, Cpl. Chris Ridley observed a deer hunter sitting in a ladder stand off the road not wearing a fluorescent orange vest. After checking licenses the hunter was issued a citation for hunting deer without fluorescent orange. On November 13th, Cpl. Ridley issued a subject, who was fishing in the Brunswick River, a citation for possession of 4 undersized trout. LIBERTY COUNTY On November 2nd, RFC Isaac Strickland and Ranger Jack Thain cited two deer hunters for hunting over bait and hunting without wearing fluorescent orange in the Gum Branch area. On November 6th, RFC Isaac Strickland and Ranger Jack Thain found and warned a 14year old hunter for hunting deer over bait and for not wearing fluorescent orange. WAYNE COUNTY On November 12th, RFC Randy Aspinwall was working a night deer hunting complaint in Wayne County. He observed two vehicles pull into a field he was watching and shoot at a deer (one vehicle was lighting the field while the other vehicle shot at the deer). RFC Aspinwall attempted to stop the two vehicles. After a short vehicle chase, the two vehicles were stopped with assistance from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Four subjects were cited for hunting deer at night, hunting from a public road, hunting from a motor vehicle. The two drivers of the vehicles were cited for fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer. During the investigation of the subjects, RFC Aspinwall learned that one of the subjects had killed two deer earlier in the same field. He was additionally cited for hunting deer at night.
