LOCAL LEGISLATION CALENDAR GEORGIA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Wednesday, March 1, 2017 HB 476 by Representative Greene of the 151st DOUGHERTY COUNTY: This bill provides for compensation for the coroner and deputy coroners of Dougherty County. The coroner will make $65,000 a year and deputy coroners will only be compensated by fees for the performance of investigations. However, deputy coroners won't perform more than 25 percent of the investigations during a calendar year. HB 477 by Representative Nimmer of the 178th APPLING COUNTY: This bill creates a board of elections and registration for Appling County. The board will have the powers, duties, and responsibilities currently being exercised by the Board of Elections of Appling County and the Board of Registrars of Appling County. HB 480 by Representative Gordon of the 163rd CHATHAM COUNTY: This bill creates the Chatham County Urban Development Authority. The bill states there is a problem with urban blight and deterioration in Chatham County, so the authority will be created to promote economic revitalization and community development. The bill creates a board of trustees made up of five members for the authority. Additionally, the authority will be authorized to issue revenue bonds and collect payments for the bonds. SB 124 by Sen. Dugan of the 30th CITY OF DECATUR: This bill creates the City of Decatur Public Facilities Authority and provides for the appointment of members to the authority. It also confers powers to the authority and authorizes the issuance of bonds for it.
