Kevin Tanner (9th) House Education Committee: Committee 02-04-2015 Do Pass Action: Page 1 of 2 HB 65 Education; local boards of education and certain charter schools to hold at least two public meetings on the proposed annual operating budget; require Bill Summary: House Bill 65 requires local school boards and charter schools to hold at least two public meetings prior to adopting any budget, so that the public can provide input on the proposed annual budget. The public meetings must be advertised in a local newspaper, and a summary of the proposed budget must be posted on the local board's website. Michael Caldwell (20th) Education Committee Action: 02-04-2015 Do Pass HB 91 Education; eliminate Georgia High School Graduation Test; provisions Bill Summary: House Bill 91 would retroactively allow past students who failed the Georgia High School Graduation Test but fulfilled all of the other requirements for graduation, to petition their local school board in order to obtain a degree from their high school.
