The NCSL is the bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffers of states, commonwealths and territories. It provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues. "Since coming to the General Assembly, Rep. Buckner has shown both a willingness to learn, and an ability to apply her acquired knowledge," said Speaker Coleman. "Georgia is well served by her attendance at these meetings." Speaker Coleman specifically asked Rep. Buckner to attend the NCSL's natural resources training sessions, as well as the pre-conference rural health workforce development and rural mental health workshops. "There really was an abundance of good information and ideas," said Buckner, who serves on the House Natural Resources and Environment, and Health and Human Services Committees. "I valued both the formal organizational seminars, as well as the opportunity to interact and compare notes with lawmakers from other states who are tackling the same problems as Georgia." During the 2004 session, Rep. Buckner co-authored and was instrumental in the passage of HB 1277, which requires new electronic sprinkler systems within the Metro Atlanta Area to contain rainfall sensors to avoid water waste. Rep. Buckner also serves as Secretary of the House State Institutions and Property Committee. # # # For further information please contact Rep. Buckner @ 404-656-6372
