Shaw Calls Hearing to Examine Peach Care for Kids Funding 
Press Conference to follow meeting 
Atlanta Representative Jay Shaw (D-Lakeland), who chairs the Community Health Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee, has announced a subcommittee hearing to examine the funding situation for Georgia's Peach Care for Kids Program. 
The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in room 341 of the state capitol building. Attending the hearing and addressing the committee will be Department of Community Health Commissioner Tim Burgess. 
A press conference will be held immediately after the meeting in room 341. 
The highly successful program which provides health insurance for the children of Georgia's working poor is expected to need another $16-18 million to avoid restricting future enrollment or service reduction. The subcommittee will assess the financial situation in hopes of finding sufficient funds within the DCH budget to keep Peach Care whole.
