Hexstall Tapped for Sub-Committee 
 
Creation of New City to be Addressed

Atlanta Representative Joe Hexstall, D-Atlanta, has been appointed Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Sandy Springs, which is an area north of Atlanta that wants to become a city. 
The appointment was made by Rep. Tommy Smith, D-Nicholls, Chairman of the House State Planning and Community Affairs Committee. Members will address legislation granting the densely populated region a new city charter. 
"Rep. Hexstall has an excellent understanding of the local legislative process and a keen awareness of what is necessary to be a municipality in Georgia, which made this an easy appointment," said Rep. Smith. "His demonstrated ability and leadership will contribute greatly to the effectiveness of this committee." 
Rep. Hexstall, is Vice-Chairman of the State Planning and Community Affairs Committee and serves on the Special Judiciary, Defense and Veterans Affairs and InterGovernmental Coordination committees.
