(Seasonally Adjusted) Employment in trade, transportation, and utilities rose by 6,200 nonfarm workers in February, this sector has con- sistently grown for the last ten months. The leisure and hospitality sector gained 4,300 jobs over the month, thus continuing an upward trend for the sixth month in a row. Construction shed 4,300 jobs in February, marking the 4.6% 4.4% 4.3% 4.1% 4.0% 3.9% 3.7% 3.5% 3.4% 3.3% 3.3% 3.2% 3.2% first month the sector experienced a loss in six months. The contraction in the government sector comes as state government jobs decreased by 300 and government employment at the local level fell by 100 jobs over the month. Professional and business services (+52,500 jobs), trade, transportation, and utilities (+48,000 jobs), leisure and hospitality (+43,800 jobs), education and health services (+29,100 jobs) and manufacturing (+18,700 jobs) added the most jobs from February 2021 to February 2022. In February 2022, Georgia's unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) held steady at 3.2 percent over the month. Georgia's unemployment rate remains well below the 3.8 national average. Over the year, the state's unemployment rate is down from 4.6 percent in February 2021.
