Local government jobs in the (Seasonally Adjusted) state were down 1,000 in August while federal jobs were down 300 and state government positions held steady. Other services saw jobs decline by 1,100 in August after growing by 900 in July. Professional and business services grew by 5,900 jobs in August and has added workers for 16 straight months. The August growth comes as administrative and support services employment was up 3,500, professional and 7.0% 6.5% 5.9% 5.6% 5.3% 5.1% 4.8% 4.5% 4.3% 4.1% 4.0% 3.7% 3.5% technical services added 2,500 jobs, and management of companies shed 100 positions. Financial activities employment grew by 1,000 in August with finance and insurance adding 800 workers and real estate adding 200 Aug-20 Sep-20 Oct-20 Nov-20 Dec-20 Jan-21 Feb-21 Mar-21 Apr-21 May-21 Jun-21 Jul-21 Aug-21 jobs. Manufacturing jobs were up 600 in August after be- ing down 700 in July. Over the year, employment in Georgia is up 199,500, or 4.6 percent. Professional and business services (+62,700 jobs), leisure and hospitality (+41,000 jobs), trade, transportation, and utilities (+34,900 jobs), and education and health services (+27,900 jobs) added the most jobs from August 2020 to August 2021. Georgia's unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) declined to 3.5 percent in August from 3.7 percent in July 2021. Over the year, the unemployment rate is down from 7.0 percent in August 2021.
