With 2,500 nonfarm workers added (Seasonally Adjusted) to March payrolls, the education and health services sector has seen employment rise for eight consecutive 12.5% months now. In March, the educational services indus- try saw employment grow by 100 while health care and 9.4% social assistance employment was up by 2,400 over the month. Leisure and hospitality jobs increased by 2,200 in March after increasing by 5,700 in February. The March job gains are a result of arts, entertainment, and recreation employment growing by 1,200 and 3.6% 8.4% 7.6% 7.0% 6.5% 5.9% 5.6% 5.3% 5.1% 4.8% 4.5% accommodation and food services adding 1,000 jobs. After shedding 4,300 jobs in February, the government sector added 2,100 jobs in March. Leisure and hospitality (-58,100 jobs), government (-24,200 jobs), education and health services (-19,800 jobs), and other services (-15,700 jobs) have lost the most jobs from March 2020 to March 2021. Georgia's unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) declined to 4.5 percent in March from 4.8 percent in February 2021. Over the year, the unemployment rate is up from 3.6 percent in March 2020.
