Other Services employment rose by 3,000 in August and has grown for four straight months. Leisure and Hospital- ity employment increased by 2,800 in August with jobs persistent on coming back after the pandemic shutdown. The sector added 15,300 jobs in July, 70,000 jobs in June, and 50,400 jobs in May. Manufacturing employment fell by 3,200 in August after being down 300 in July. Durable Goods and Non-Durable Goods shed 2,100 and 1,100 jobs, respectively, in August. Government employment declined 2,400 in August after being up in June and July. Local Government lost 9,500 jobs in August, State Government cut 300 jobs, and the Federal Government added 7,400 workers. Over the year, employment in Georgia has declined by 194,000, or -4.2 percent. Leisure and Hospitality (-80,200 jobs); Professional and Business Services (-36,400 jobs); and Manufacturing (-26,300 jobs) have lost the most jobs from August 2019 to August 2020. Georgia's unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) decreased to 5.6 percent in August from 7.6 percent in July 2020. Over the year, the unemployment rate is up from 3.3 percent in August 2019.
