Education and Health Services employment grew by 1,800 in January after being up 600 in December. Educational Services employment rose by 200 in January while Health Care and Social Assistance employment was up 1,600 over the month. Construction employment expanded by 1,200 in January after being 3.9% 3.9% 3.8% 3.8% 3.8% 3.7% 3.6% 3.6% 3.5% 3.4% 3.3% down 300 in December. Information jobs increased by 3.1% 3.1% 1,100 in January after showing no change in employment level in December. Government employment fell by 300 in January after experiencing job gains for three straight months. Local Government employment grew by 700 in January while State Government and Federal Government endured job losses of 800 and 200, respectively. Georgia's unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) held steady at 3.1 percent from December 2019 to January 2020. Over the year, the unemployment rate is down from 3.8 percent in January 2019.
