The Albany-based company will have the first three aircraft ferry flown from Thrush headquarters in Dougherty County and the remaining seventeen will be containerized and shipped via ocean transport for the more than 7,000 mile journey. Heilongjiand State Farms Beidahuand Group in Jiamusi, China will take delivery of the newly FAA-certified dual cockpit 510G's. Thrush Aircraft manufactures a full range of aerial application aircraft used in agriculture, forestry and fire fighting roles worldwide. Ex-Im, or Export-Import Bank of the United States, an independent arm of the U.S. Federal Government that helps facilitate global opportunities for American companies, assisted in the effort. Atlanta will be home to AT&T's fourth Foundry innovation center that would add dozens of new research jobs. The Atlanta Foundry, which will focus on mobile technologies, will be located in the Centergy building on the Georgia Tech campus. The Foundry program encourages innovation amongst AT&T employees but also allows third-party developers to get access to the infrastructure -- data, hardware, software and engineers -- needed to build technologies. The Foundry will be a hub where engineers and executives dream up new technologies and then quickly bring them to market. Two companies were recently approved by the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority for a payment-in-lieu-of-tax plan. Under the plan, new and existing businesses reduce their tax burden on new investment for five years. Syntec Industries and Stemco Brake Products Group will each pay no maintenance and operation taxes on their property but will still pay school taxes on new expansions. Syntac Industries, which has product lines including basic and patterned carpets, steering wheels and designer fabrics, plans a $7.7 million expansion on Westside Industrial Blvd and will create 20 new jobs in Rome while Stemco, which makes commercial vehicle braking and suspension components for heavy and medium-duty vehicle markets, has planned a $6 million expansion and will add 50 jobs at its Hemlock Road location. Salad maker Ready Pac Foods, Inc. is adding 140 jobs to its Jackson production facility in Butts County. The plant is located in the Riverview Business Park, off GA Highway 36 near Interstate 75. Ready Pac makes bagged salad mixes, fruit bowls and other products. The Jackson location makes processed salad. The company, which currently employs 325 full-time and 50 part-time workers in Jackson, hopes to have the new employees trained by September 2013. The Savannah Economic Development Authority will grant LMI Aerospace a $125,000 cash incentive toward expansion. The airframe parts supplier recent acquisition of a specialty machining and assembly firm will mean 100 new jobs for Savannah and the second expansion of LMI's local facility in less than a year. The project will boost LMI's presence at its Coleman Boulevard facility to 161,000 square feet and 155 employees. The expanded facility will incorporate Valent Aerostructures' expertise in producing sections of aircraft and specifically wings into LMI's main local function of providing individual parts to Gulfstream using a "just in time" delivery process. Delta Air Lines has said it is looking to hire over 200 flight attendants in fall 2013. The move comes in part because Delta, based in Atlanta, is preparing to add 88 Boeing 717s to its fleet from rival AirTran Airways. Delta began taking the 717s in September and will gradually add them to its fleet over the next few years to replace 50-seat regional jets. A new Krispy Kreme Doughnut Factory is coming to Roswell. The 2,400-square-foot facility will be located on Alpharetta Highway. Krispy Kreme hopes to hire 70 employees for the store which is slated to open in September 2013.
