With the move, PulteGroup will create over 300 jobs in the area and invest $10 million. The state of Georgia has offered PulteGroup $1.5 million in incentives to relocate while the city of Atlanta is also considering offering incentives of $1.5 million. A $30 million medical office park is planned for Oconee County, near Athens. As the healthcare industry continues to grow in the area, Resurgence Park, a 30-acre development is looking to attract physicians and medical offices. The development will include about 10 buildings including medical offices, a hotel, and an assisted living facility. Construction on Resurgence Park is expected to begin in summer 2013 with the first medical office opening in April 2014. Construction of the $652 million Savannah Harbor deepening has been cleared. The fiscal 2014 Georgia state budget was recently signed that includes $50 million in bonds for the project, bringing the state's total commitment to $231 million. The Savannah project is due to be finished by the end of 2016. The harbor will be deepened from 42 feet to 47 feet to better accommodate the larger container ships that will pass through the Panama Canal when its expansion is completed in 2015. Atlanta's new, 20-story-high ferris wheel will add 50 jobs to the local economy. Skyview, will open to the public in the parking lot adjacent to The Tabernacle opposite Centennial Park in July 2013. With the World of Coke and the Georgia Aquarium already attracting huge crowds, Skyview is expected to add one more reason to visit downtown Atlanta. Hitachi Automotive Systems has planned an expansion of its plant in Monroe. The Walton County facility currently employs about 300 full- time and 75 part-time workers and will undergo an expected $80 million in upgrades as it creates 250 new jobs. The plant is expected to increase from its current 230,000square-feet and grow by 290,000-square-feet when adjacent space is added. The Hitachi plant produces valve timing mechanisms, propeller shafts and power steering systems for various automakers. Walmart is poised to open its newest store in Norcross. The retail giant based in Arkansas is scheduled to hire about 200 people for the Gwinnett County location that will open for business in summer 2013. Effingham County is preparing for a boost in the entertainment industry as a production company is making plans to join the area. Medient Studios Inc., a movie production and distribution company based in California, will build a $90 million production and entertainment complex in the county. Prime Focus Limited, a visual entertainment, creative, and technical services provider, would contribute production and post-production equipment and other elements for the planned megastudio as it invests more than $40 million in the project. Medient's agreement with the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority calls for the movie studio to add nearly 1,000 jobs when it's developed on 1,500 acres near Old River Road and Interstate 16. A Starbucks Coffee Co. manufacturing facility being constructed in Augusta remains on schedule to be completed in early 2014. Plans call for the building to be 180,000square-feet. The $172 million facility is located inside Augusta Corporate Park, off Mike Padgett Highway. The Starbucks facility will take up about 100 acres of the Augusta Corporate Park and produce Starbucks VIA Ready Brew, the coffee base for its Frappuccino beverages and many Starbucks ready-to-drink products. More than 140 workers will be hired for the plant.
