The Statesboro site will produce polyisocyanurate, an insulation material used with commercial roofing. The new plant will result in 50 full-time jobs in the community. Another retail outlet will be built on Memorial Drive in DeKalb County where the company already has an established location. Wal-Mart will erect a 148,000 square foot store at the corner of Hairston Road that will feature a grocery department, a pharmacy and a garden center. The new store will create some 300 jobs for the area. A convention center in Douglas County will be built to enable the county to reap some of the benefits of the crowded metro Atlanta convention business. The Douglas County Convention Center, an $11.6 million meeting facility, will allow Douglasville to host multiple conventions simultaneously and attract business from nearby Paulding County and the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport area. The 35,000 square foot facility will create about 160 new jobs. A new distribution center in Floyd County will account for 600 new jobs by 2016. Lowe's decision to build a regional distribution center in the Rome area was based on several factors, but one of the big ones was logistics. The North Carolina-based home improvement products retailer expects to construct the $125 million, 1.4 million square-foot facility in 18 months. Georgia's network of transportation, material handling and warehouse services allows for the efficient movement of goods and will allow this center to service 130 to 150 stores in six states. A new Meriwether County manufacturing operation expects to hire 450 employees by 2016. The new Mando America plant will produce electric power-steering gears and anti-lock brakes for vehicle manufacturers including Chrysler, General Motors, Hyundai and Kia, among others. This site will be the company's third location in the U. S. and will be located in the Meriwether Park near Hogansville and represent a $200 million investment. The operations are expected to begin sometime in 2013 and the company will hire 200 people initially then gradually increase the employment number to 450 by 2016. Sumter County has had some good economic news as it has been announced that a new online call center will create 100 jobs. PetCareRx will fill 60 positions immediately and these employees will undergo training for their new Americus facility. The new facility should have a total employment of 100 by the end of the year. The company sells pet medications at a discounted price on the internet. A Carroll County employer will expand its corporate headquarters and add 400 jobs over the next three years while creating $12 million in new capital investment. Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc. provides electronic health records, ambulatory health care and clinical research business solutions and services to more than 27,000 healthcare providers nationwide. The expansion allows for the construction of two new buildings creating a five-building corporate campus. The plans add 80,000 square feet to the Carrollton campus and will include a new corporate headquarters and training facilities. 20 Georgia Unemployment Rates by County September 2011 Dade Catoosa
