Georgia Department of Labor schedules job fair in Thomasville 
ATLANTA  State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Thomasville Career Center, along with several other local organizations, will co-sponsor a job fair for employers and job seekers in the area. 
Other sponsors include: the Thomas County Employer Committee, Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce, Thomasville Times Enterprise, and Southwest Georgia Technical College. The event will be held Tuesday, May 15, from 1-4 p.m. at the technical college's Sewell Building, located at 15689 U. S. Highway 19 North, in Thomasville. 
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Thomasville area together with job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential." 
The event will feature about 50 employers that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings. 
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: Advanced Systems Design, Ambassador, American Fresh Foods, AIG American General Life, American Signature Furniture, Archbold Memorial Hospital, Captain D's, Cardinal Staffing Services, Caterpillar, Cives Steel, Cleaver Brooks, Department of Juvenile Justice, Dollar Business Solutions, Equity Group, Flowers, Georgia Department of Corrections/Autry State Prison, Great Clips, Georgia State Patrol, Liberty National, Lowes, New Hire Solutions, Oil Dri Corporation of Georgia, Senior Life Insurance Company, Skandia Window Fashions, Southern Home Care Services, Southwestern State Hospital, The Connor Group, Thomas County Government, U. S. Air Force, Army, Marines, and Navy, U. S. Filter/Siemens, Volt Services Group, Waffle House, Wal-Mart, Woodmen, and YMCA.
