FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Georgia Department of Labor schedules business expo/resource fair in Fitzgerald ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Tifton Career Center, along with several other local organizations, will co-sponsor a business expo and resource fair for employers and job seekers in the area. Other sponsors include: the Tift Area Employer Committee, Colony Business Association, Irwin County Family Connection, Fitzgerald Chamber of Commerce, East Central Technical College, and Ocilla Chamber of Commerce. The event will be held Thursday, May 31, from 4-7 p.m. at East Central Technical College, located at 667 Perry House Rd. in Fitzgerald. Commissioner Thurmond said, "This business expo and resource fair will give employers in the Fitzgerald area a chance to display their businesses. And it will bring employers and organizations in the area together with job seekers and future entrepreneurs who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services designed to help them reach their full workplace potential." The event will feature about 30 employers that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and entrepreneurial resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings. Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: Caremaster Medical Services, Colony Bank, Dorminy Medical Center, Georgia Department of Corrections, Kim Brock Home and Garden, Labor Finders, Lippert Components, PCC Airfoils LLC, Shaw Plant 8, Tendercare, Tift Regional Medical Center, U. S. Marine Corps, and Woodmen of the World.
