Georgia Department of Labor schedules career fair for Thomasville Home Furnishing employees and other job seekers 
 
ATLANTA  State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Thomasville Career Center and Southwest Georgia Technical College will co-host a career fair for employees of Thomasville Home Furnishings who are losing their jobs because of the pending closure of the plant in Thomasville. Although the job fair is being held to help these employees find replacement jobs, all job seekers may attend. 
The career fair will be held Friday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Sewell Building at Southwest Georgia Technical College at 15689 U.S. Highway 19 North in Thomasville. 
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This career fair is one of many efforts to assist the employees of Thomasville Home Furnishing with getting back to work as quickly as possible. These are experienced workers with established work ethics who can quickly transition into the workforce of a new employer. This is an opportunity for employers and organizations in the Thomas County area to hire employees with a proven work record." 
The event is expected to feature about a dozen employers who will be hiring to fill current and future job openings. Among the employers expected to participate are: Archbold Hospital, Ambassador, Cleaver-Brooks, Dollar Business Solutions, New Hire Solutions, PFG Powell, Rumbles Office City, Sailfish Boats, Skandia Window Fashions, South Georgia Staffing, and Thomasville Bedding. 
Applicants should be prepared to fill out employment applications and interview for available job openings. Job seekers also will learn about educational, training and other opportunities available to them.
