Georgia Department of Labor schedules veterans job fair in Columbus 
ATLANTA  State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Columbus Career Center and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will co-sponsor a two-day job fair for veterans, personnel recently separated from active duty, and other job seekers in the area. 
The job fair will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 7-8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at VFW Post 665, located at 1824 Victory Dr. in Columbus. 
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Columbus area together with veterans and other job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential." 
The event is expected to feature more than 40 employers each day that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings. 
Among the employers expected to participate in the two-day event are: A-1 Postage, Accounting Principals, AIG American General, Alatrade Foods, American Home Shield, American Truck Driving, Army and Air Force Exchange, AT&T, Avon, BC/BS, Capstone Financial, Carolina Handling, Cessna, Columbus Regional Health, Dialysis Clinic, Domino's Pizza, Hilton Garden Inn, Home Depot, Golden's Foundry, Kelly Services, Kysor Warren, Liberty National Life, Muscogee Manor, National Training, Northrop Grumman, Old Dominion Freight, Omega Training Group, Pre-Paid Legal, Road America, Staffing Solutions, TIC Federal Credit Union, Randstad, River City Door Company, Sears, Spherion, Staffing Solutions, St. Francis Hospital, Tahitian Noni, Valley Hospitality, Waffle House, and a number of law enforcement and governmental agencies and educational institutions.
