Labor department to co-sponsor job fair in Athens area
ATLANTA The Georgia Department of Labor's Athens Career Center, The Athens BannerHerald, and the Athens Employer Committee will sponsor a job fair for employers and job seekers in the area. The employer committee is a group of local business representatives who maintain a working relationship between the employer community and the career center.
The one-day event will be held Thursday, April 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Classic Center, 300 North Thomas St. in Athens.
The job fair, which will be open to the public, is an opportunity for job seekers to meet area employers and discuss job openings at their companies.
Employers expected to participate include: Athens-Clarke County Human Resources, The Athens Banner-Herald, Athens First Bank and Trust, Athens Heritage Home, Avon, Blanchard Personnel, Blockbuster Entertainment, Blue Ridge Paper, Carrier Transicold, Etcon Staffing, Flexstaff Services, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Georgia Department of Labor, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, Huber Engineered Woods, Manpower, Oconee State Bank, Randstad Staffing, St. Mary's Hospital, U. S. Navy, U. S. Social Security Administration, University of Georgia Institute on Human Development and Disability, and Waffle House.
Applicants should bring copies of their resume and work history, dress appropriately for the type of job they are seeking, and be prepared to fill out applications and interview for jobs.
