VETERANS JOB FAIR SET FOR MAY 6 AT FT. GORDON
ATLANTA The Georgia Department of Labor's Augusta Career Center, along with several other local organizations, will sponsor a job fair Tuesday, May 6, at Fort Gordon for veterans and other job seekers in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA
Open to the public, the job fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the U. S. Army Reserve Center, Building No. 14401, 719 15th St. at Fort Gordon. Other job fair sponsors include the American Legion, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the U. S. Army Directorate of Community Activities.
"Our current labor market is overflowing with highly qualified ex-service members and others with experience in many fields," said Augusta Career Center Manager Beverly E. Johnson. "These veterans and others have skills in the following occupational areas: administrative, clerical, communications, electronics, engineering, law enforcement/security, construction, logistics, and mechanical trades. In addition to these technical skills, the veterans also have leadership ability, good work ethics, and are reliable. They are healthy, drug free, and represent a very valuable resource to employers."
National, state, and local employers will be on hand to discuss a wide-range of full and part-time job openings. The openings will include entry level, supervisory, and management positions. Employers will recruit for positions in administration, clerical, corrections, law enforcement, manufacturing, teaching, telecommunications, and sales.
