FOR APRIL 23 IN MACON
ATLANTA The Georgia Department of Labor's Macon Career Center, Macon's Small Business Development Center, and the Middle Georgia Employer Committee will sponsor a seminar for employers later this month entitled "Double Trouble, Learn How to Negotiate Through an I-9 Audit and Workers Compensation Issues."
The seminar will be held Wednesday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the career center located at 3090 Mercer University Dr. in Macon. Attorneys Dallas Criss and Melisa Bodner of Atlanta, representing the law firm of Constangy, Brooks, and Smith, LLC, will conduct the one-day seminar, which has two parts. In the first part, Criss will focus on the U.S. Department of Justice's Immigration and Naturalization's I-9 Form, which employers have to fill out for all employees hired. Afterwards, Bodner will focus on the employers' liability and which workers are covered against injury and illness by workers' compensation.
The cost of the seminar is $48. Pre-paid registration is required. To register, mail payment to the University of Georgia, 401 Cherry St., Suite 701, Macon, Ga. 31201. For more information about the seminar, contact Employment Marketing Representatives (EMR) Gail Becham or Maureen
