Atlanta, Georgia 30303-1751 (404)656-3032 December 18, 2001 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PRAYON WINS LABOR DEPARTMENT'S AWARD FOR WORKPLACE SAFETY ATLANTA -- -- State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that Prayon, Inc., in Augusta has been presented the 2001 Georgia Safety, Health, and Environmental Conference Award for its outstanding workplace safety program. The Conference Award is one of the top 10 statewide awards presented annually by the Georgia Department of Labor which recognize outstanding achievement in preventing workplace injuries and illnesses. "Each year, the labor department honors the achievements of Georgia employers in workplace safety," said Thurmond. "Our employers represent some of the best in recognizing the importance of safety and the impact it has on the health of our workers and the enterprises they serve. We all benefit from the efforts of employers to maintain a safe work environment. We congratulate Prayon on winning the Conference Award." Earl Everett, director of the labor department's Safety Engineering Division, presented the award to Richard Davis, the company's environmental safety and health specialist, at the recent Georgia Safety, Health, and Environmental Conference in Savannah. "The success of our plant can be attributed mainly to our employees who work here day-to-day," said Davis. "Their ideas, hard work, dedication and just being safety conscious.
