Atlanta, Georgia 30303-1751 (404)656-3032 July 29, 1999 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE STATE DOL TO HOLD SECOND JOB FAIR FOR MALL OF GEORGIA MONDAY ATLANTA -- The Georgia Department of Labor will sponsor a second job fair to fill more than 2,000 jobs for the Mall of Georgia, the newest and largest mall in the Southeast, scheduled to open Aug. 11 in Gwinnett County. The first job fair for the mall was held in June. When completed, the Mall of Georgia complex is expected to create as many as 8,000 new jobs. The job fair will be held Monday, Aug. 2, from 3-8 p.m. at the Gwinnett County Civic and Cultural Center, located near Exit 42A off Interstate 85. Retail stores to locate in the mall include Dillards, Lord & Taylors, Nordstrom, J. C. Penney, Galyon's, Best Buy, Target and Staples, along with many other specialty shops. Openings include both part-time and full-time jobs, as well as entry level and management positions. Some of the openings include jobs in accounting, computer-related positions, sales, maintenance, custodial, security and loss prevention. Applicants should bring their work history or resume and be prepared to interview. The Mall of Georgia, owned and operated by Simon Property Group, will consist of 1.6 million square feet of shopping and entertainment space. The interior of the mall will feature five courtyards, representing Atlanta, the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Coastal, Plains, and Piedmont regions of the state. Other features include a village, much like a small-town business district, adjacent to the mall, a 500-seat amphitheater, pedestrian sidewalks, restaurants and a seven-story theater complex.
