Atlanta, Georgia 30303-1751 (404)656-3032 July 26, 1999 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE EQUAL EMPLOYMENT SEMINAR SET FOR AUG. 12 IN BRUNSWICK ATLANTA -- State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor, the Golden Isles Employer Committee and the Society for Human Resources Management will sponsor a seminar on equal employment opportunities in the workplace for employers in the southeast Georgia area. The employer committee is comprised of employers in the area and labor department personnel in the Brunswick office, which serves Glynn and McIntosh counties. The society is a professional organization of human resources personnel in the area. The seminar is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Holiday Inn Express at the intersection of highway 341 and I-95 in Brunswick. The seminar is designed to aid small business owners, company supervisors, human resource personnel, and others involved with equal employment issues. The seminar will include case examples of discrimination and insights into how EEOC investigates its cases. William Rantin, enforcement manager of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in Atlanta, will head a team of professionals who will discuss such employment-related issues as sexual harassment and pregnancy discrimination in the workplace. The cost of the seminar is $50 for the first person from a company or organization and $35 for each additional person.
