Atlanta, Georgia 30303-1751 (404)656-3032 Page 1 of 1 January 11, 1999 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SEMINAR ON FEDERAL EMPLOYMENT LAWS SET FOR KINGSLAND JAN. 21 ATLANTA -- State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that a seminar on recent changes to U.S. wage and hour laws and other federal employment-related issues will be held for southeast Georgia area employers Thursday, Jan. 21, in Kingsland. The seminar, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the Camden County Recreation Center, will be cosponsored by the Kings Bay Employer Committee and the Georgia Department of Labor's Kings Bay office. The seminar's principal speaker will be Maria Jackson of Savannah, an investigator with the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division, which is responsible for the enforcement of numerous federal labor laws. Jackson will highlight the most common mistakes made by employers when filling out employment-related documents. Company managers, accountants and human resource professionals are encouraged to attend the seminar, which will cost $35 for the first person registering from an organization and $10 for each additional individual attending from that group.
