In placement services each child who is the principal (PC) is considered a case. It is calculated from a rolling 12 month population of the entry cohort where the child remained in custody for over 8 days and was not 18 on the date of removal. The federal standard is 4.12. Outcome I Child Protective Services Cases (State Fiscal Year 2017 to Date) The overall increase in Child Protective Cases cases during the month of November 2016 is being driven by the increase in Family Support cases during the month which had an upward trend of 3% from October to November. The following slides reveal that there were 593 entries and 637 exits. On the last day of December there were 12 433 children in custody from this population. Of those who entered custody during the month only 28 children (4.7%) of them had a prior episode within 12 months. This is a marked increase from the 11% of last December.
