Genocide Prevention & Awareness Month in 
Georgia 
On May 7 2014, House Resolution 1350 in the Georgia House Chambers thereby proclaiming April as "Genocide Prevention and Awareness Month" in Georgia. Follow the Georgia Coalition to Prevent Genocide, founded and led by Melanie Nelkin, on Facebook for updates regarding scheduled events. As stated in the proclamation, "The goal of Genocide Prevention and Awareness Month is to educate the public about the history of previous and contemporary genocides; how to advocate against future genocides; to focus attention on the specter of genocide so that policies, strategies, and programs geared towards combating the evils of genocide can be developed; and to commemorate the victims of genocide." Free showing! Sunday Matinee: April 27, 1pm 
 
This April marks the 20th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide. In commemoration of the anniversary and in conjunction with the Georgia House Resolution 1350 declaring April as Genocide Prevention and Awareness month, the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust is hosting a free educational showing of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's short film "Defying Genocide: Choices that Saved Lives" at the exhibit Anne Frank in the World: 1929-1945.

Exhibit about Liberator now on tour in Georgia 
The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust in partnership with the Georgia Public Library Service is bringing the travelling exhibit "Witness to the Holocaust: WWII Veteran William Alexander Scott III at Buchenwald" to libraries throughout the state from January to July of 2014.Click here for the full tour schedule...
