During the press conference, Governor Miller and Superintendent Schrenko announced their plans to overhaul education in Georgia. Funds for Aides K-3 and Remedial Clerical Support Grades 4-8 Funding for Responsibility Supplements Increase the Funding Ratio for the two laboratories from 18 to 20 to 1 Cap the number of high school non-vocational $ (197,854,704) (10,871,926) (6,330,493) (1 8,283,365) The Governor announced that laboratory students a local system may claim he would recommend 513 million for QBE funding purposes at 30% of total FTEs new dollars for grades K-12 in the budget he sends to the General Assembly in January. Reductions in the 9-12, vocational laboratory and non-vocational laboratory FTEs (6,192,877) and additions to the Department of Education budget for FY 1997 are Subtotal $ (239,533,365) shown in the accompanying chart which was provided by the Governor's office. In addition to redirected funds from other agencies, monies from bonds and the lottery help comprise the Governor's total of $513 million.
