FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Dion Houston Public Information Officer 404-685-2784 dhouston@gaarts.org Georgia Council for the Arts Awards More Than $60,000 in Grants to Arts Organizations Georgia The Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) has awarded $61,843 in grants to non-profit arts and non-arts organizations statewide through the Fast Track/Quick Benefits Program. These GCA grant awards fund contracts for programming or services to Georgia citizens in visual, literary, and performing arts during Fiscal Year 2005. All of the funded applications will receive the full amount requested for the project. "These projects represent some of the most creative programming in the State this year and are supported by the strong project design and management skill of the applicant organizations," said GCA Grants Director Walton Ray. Fast Track/Quick Benefits is a project support program that provides funding for arts projects and organizational development for arts organizations. This agency awards funds through appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. Grant applications are reviewed by peer panelists and evaluated based on established criteria including artistic excellence and administrative capability. The GCA Advisory Board, appointed by the Governor, makes final funding recommendations to the Governor for approval. ###
