Grant awards range from $1,500-$5,000 and require a one-toone cash match. GCA hos ted an online training workshop for the FY21 Arts Education Program Grant on January 30, 2020. During the works hop, GCA s taff reviewed the requirements for the grant application, along with tips for submitting a successful proposal. Trans late 3 of 20 2019 Poetry Out Loud Winner and Finalists: Julie Edes, Second Runner Up; Kamryn Jones, First Runner Up; Alejandro Campo, Georgia POL State Champion Poetry Out Loud State Finals Take Place on March 15 Poetry Out Loud is an innovative program s pons ored by National Endowment for the Arts which encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance of the written word. Structured similar to a spelling bee, winners of each classroom recitation competition advance to a school-wide contest. Each school's winner competes in a regional semifinal competition. Finalists from the regional semifinals advance to the state finals held March 15, 2020, from 1-3 p.m ., at the Atlanta His tory Center. The Georgia state champion will compete at the National Finals in Washington, D.C., April 27-29, 2020. All Georgia high schools are welcome and encouraged to participate. GCA recently releas ed the FY19 Impact Map on our website at www.gaarts.org. During FY19, GCA directly and indirectly delivered support to 130 of the state's 159 counties . A total of 5.65 m illion individual Georgians directly benefitted from the programs and s ervices delivered by GCA grantees . The FY19 Impact Map publication identifies the location of GCA grants and programs in each county served, including grant recipients, grant recipients' service areas, and programs and staff site visits. Final reports and CRR forms are due no later than 30 days after the end of the funded project. Both form s may be found on the web page for each respective grant type. SubscribHeumaPnasTt rIsasfufeics king GCA announced in Decem ber the recipient of a new theatre commission, Art as Power: Theatre in Response to Georgia's Domestic Commercial Sex Exploitation of Minors Crisis. GCA has partnered with the Georgia Attorney General's Office, the Georgia Department of Education, Wellspring Living, and Street Grace to use theatre arts as an educational vehicle for prevention of the sexual exploitation of minors. Georgia-based Out of Hand Theater has been selected to develop the script for late middle school/high school audiences. The partners joined forces to offer a contract for the creation of a script for a one-act play that will focus on bringing awareness about child exploitation. Each production of the play will be followed by a Q&A with profes s ionals working in the field. More information is available in the press release. Through Partners for Change, ROOTS will provide funding to artists, cultural workers, and small organizations of color to deepen their investment in strengthening the network of artists, communities, and partnerships. Partners for Change will provide $25,000 per year over three years, as well as matching dollars in technical assistance, support, and peer learning, to s ix projects led by artis ts , art collectives, and small arts organizations of color. Trans late The Joan Mitchell Foundation has opened the 2020 application to their Emergency Grants for individual Artis ts , which provides grants of up to $6,000 to US-based visual artists who have been impacted by a natural or m an-m ade disaster affecting a region on a broad scale. The Em ergency Grant is intended to help reestablish their studio practice. The foundation accepts applications on a rolling basis and will consider requests for up to three years following such an event. 2020 is the final year they will accept applications for artists affected by 2017 events: Hurricanes Harvey, Maria, and Irma, and 2017 California Wildfires.
