PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL CODERS DAY

Professional medical coders provide invaluable support to physicians, hospitals, insurance payers, clinics , and patients ; and 
Professional medical coders assist with translating details of patient visits into codes used by insurance compan ies for timely claims processing and ensuring compliance and ethics standards are upheld while abstracting key elements f rom physical documentation; and 
The need for qualified medical coders continues to increase nationally in physician office, outpatient and hospital settings and in the state of Georgia; and 
Georgia's local chapters of the Am erican Academy of Prof ess ional Coders and all medical coders throughout the state are dedicated to the health of our citizens; and 
Professional Medical Coders Day is an opportunity to recognize professional medical cod ers throughout th e st ate for th eir dedication and contributions to the optimal health of all Georgians ; now 
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim May 19, 2016, as PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL CODERS DAY in Georgia and encourage the peopl e of Georgia to recogni ze th e valuabl e contribution s of medi cal cod ers.
