BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA A PROCLAMATION MULTIPL.E SCLEROSIS AWARENESS WEEK WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: THEREFORE: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neurological disease of the central nervous system that affects at least 2.3 million people worldwide; and In Georgia, there are more than 9,000 people diagnosed with MS. The disease generally strikes people between the ages of 20-50, and causes unpredictable effects in which the progression, severity, and specific symptoms cannot be foreseen. The cause and cure forMS remains unknown; and The Georgia chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Soci.ety is committed to creating a world free of MS and heightening ;public knowledge about the disease; ,and Funds raised through the National Multiple Sclerosis Society fuel the efforts of more than 380 research projects globally, totaling nearly $54 million annually at the best medical centers, universities, and other institutions throughout our nation and abroad; and Discovering the cause, finding a cure, and preventing future generations from being diagnosed with MS is an important task that all Georgians should support; now I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim March 7-13, 2016, as MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS AWARENESS WEEK in Georgia.
