A proclamation: Dental Health Day [Nov. 25, 2013]

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GE ORGIA

A PROCLAMATION

DENTAL HEALTH DAY

WHEREAS:

Good oral health is critical to maintaining a healthy body and lifestyle. It is essential that our population be educated on proper dental care; and

WHEREAS:

According to dental experts, Georgia citizens can ensure good oral hygiene through basic steps. A crucial step is visiting a dentist for preventative checkups and cleanings, as a dentist is trained to see hidden problems; and

WHEREAS:

Other steps include: brushing your teeth at least once a day, taking the time to do a thorough job; flossing once every day, as floss reaches many areas that a toothbrush cannot; eating a nutritious diet and avoiding excessive snacking between meals, especially refraining from unhealthy foods; and monitoring gums for signs of gum disease; and

WHEREAS:

Through organizations such as the Georgia Dental Association, efforts are underway to educate our citizens on these simple yet effective means of dental health maintenance. Dental Health Awareness Day is an opportunity for professional dental care providers to promote regular, preventative health care; now

THEREFORE: I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim january 13, 2014, as DENTAL HEALTH DAY in Georgia.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 25th day of November in the year of our Lord two thousand thirteen.
