A PROCLAMATION 
 
GIFTED EDUCATION DAY 
 
WHEREAS : WHEREAS : WHEREAS: WHEREAS: THEREFORE: 
 
The State of Geo rgia strives to meet the scholastic needs of all our citizens by providing quality educational programs; and 
Intellectually gifted students who have special educational needs comprise three to five percent of our schools' population ; and 
Statewide programs for the gifted are serving approximately 180,000 students, and over 2,000 teachers have received special training in education for the gifted; and 
Gifted students in Georgia provide our state with a vast potential resource for leadership in all areas of our society; now 
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim April 29 , 2011 as GIFTED EDUCATION DAY in Georgia and call upon our citizens to join in recognizing the needs of our gifted young people. 
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 26th day of April in the year of our Lord two thousand eleven .
