The state of Georgia mourns the loss of former state Senator Leroy Johnson who passed away on October 24, 2019; and 
Senator Leroy Johnson served in the Georgia State Senate from 1963 -1975; and 
Senator Johnson was the first African-American elected to serve in the Georgia State Senate since Reconstruction. 
NOW, THEREFORE, IN HONOR OF AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THE MEMORY OF SENATOR LEROY JOHNSON, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY 
That the flag of the United States and the flag of the state of Georgia shall be flown at half-staff on the Georgia State Capitol on Thursday, October 31, 2019. 
IT IS FURTHER 
That the flag of the United States and the flag of the state of Georgia shall be flown at half-staff on all state buildings and grounds throughout Georgia on Friday, November 1, 2019, the day of Senator Johnson's interment. 
IT IS FURTHER 
That the Honorable Leroy Johnson shall lie in state in the Rotunda of the Georgia State Capitol on Thursday, October 31, 2019, from 
u:oo a.m. to 7:30p.m.
