THE STATE OF GEORGIA 
EXECUTIVE ORDER 
BY THE GOVERNOR: 
 
on State Capitol Building and in Henry County Ordered Lowered to Half-Staff 
 
Whereas: On Friday, December 28,2018, Henry County Police Officer Michael Smith, passed away as the result of injuries incurred in the line of duty on December 6, 2018; and 
 
Whereas: Officer Smith honorably served the citizens of Henry County for seven years; and 
 
Whereas: It is fitting and proper to recognize Officer Smith's service to Henry County and the State of Georgia by lowering the flags on the State Capitol building and in Henry County to half-staff. 
 
Now, therefore, in honor of and as a mark of respect for 
THE MEMORY OF OFFICER MICHAEL SMITH, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF Georgia, it is hereby 
 
Ordered: 
 
That the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Georgia be flown at half-staff on the State Capitol building and in Henry County on Thursday, January 3, 2019, the day of Officer Smith's interment, until sunset.
