Executive order, 2017 October 12

THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER
BY THE GOVERNOR:
FLAGS ON ALL STATE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ORDERED LOWERED TO HALF STAFF

WHEREAS:

On October 4, 2017, four U.S. Soldiers who were part of a joint U.S. and Nigerien train, advise, and assist mission died in southwest Niger as a result of hostile fire while on a reconnaissance patrol; and

WHEREAS:

Staff Sgt. Dustin M. Wright, 29, of Lyons, Georgia, honorably served our country as a U.S. Army Green Beret. He was a member of the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) from Fott Bragg, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS: It is fitting and proper to recognize the sacrifices made by Staff Sgt. Dustin M. Wright by lowering the flags on all State buildings and grounds to half-staff.

ORDERED:

NOW, THEREFORE, IN HONOR OF AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THE
MEMORY OF STAFF SGT. DUSTIN M. WRIGHT, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY
VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY
That the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Georgia be flown at half-staff on all state buildings and grounds on Friday, October 13, 2017, until sunset.
