BY THE GOVERNOR:
A vacancy now exists in the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of Georgia, by reason of the death of the Honorable Harold Mann.
Article V, Section II, Paragraph V of the Constitution of Georgia provides that the Governor shall issue writs of election to fill vacancies that occur in the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Section 21-2-544 of the Georgia Code provides that a special election to fill vacancies for members of the General Assembly shall take place under the authority of a writ of election issued by the Governor to the Secretary of State which sets an election date not less than thirty nor more than sixty days after the issuance of the writ.
A writ of election to fill the vacancy in District 5 of the Georgia House of Representatives is hereby issued to the Secretary of State.
It is further ordered that the special election to fill this vacancy shall be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2001.
