THE STATE OF GEORGIA 
EXECUTIVE ORDER 
 
BY THE GOVERNOR: 
 
WHEREAS: 
 
There. is located on the northeast quadrant of the Augusta Youth Development Campus three certain buildings known as Building Numbers 6, 21 and 30 and more commonly referred to as the Old Gymnasium, the Old Canteen Building and the Old Gym Fieldhouse/Sign-in Shack; and 
 
WHEREAS: 
 
The Old Gymnasium and the Old Canteen buildings were constructed in I958 and 1960 respectively and renovation to make them suitable for further use is not economically feasible due to persistent flooding and drainage problems in the area; and 
 
WHEREAS: The sites of the Old Gymnasium and the Old Canteen buildings are needed for the construction of a new academic classroom building; and 
 
WHEREAS: It has been recommended by the Board of Juvenile Justice that the three buildings be demolished and all materials removed from the premises. 
 
Now, therefore, pursuant to the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Georgia, it is hereby 
 
ORDERED: 
 
That the appropriate staff of the Department of Juvenile Justice, acting under the approval of its Commissioner, be directed to have the three said structures' demolished and all building materials removed from the premises as expeditiously as possible.
