EXECUTIVE ORDER 
 
BY THE GOVERNOR: -- , 
 
WHEREAS. By resolution of the Trustees of the Colony of Georgia in 1750, a representative assembly of citizens was authorized to be convened for the purposes of hearing grievances from the colonists and submitting recommendations to the Trustees, and 
 
WHEREAS 
 
The first representative assembly in Georgia was convened on January 15, 1751, in Savannah and met for 24 days, submitting numerous recommendations to local authorities and Trustees for implementation, and 
 
WHEREAS This first assembly of 16 citizen members was the forbearer of the modem Georgia General Assembly, and 
 
WHEREAS 
 
The 1998 General Assembly passed House Resolution 998, creating the Commission on the 250th Anniversary of a Representative Assembly in Georgia for the purpose of planning appropriate measures to commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of representative government in Georgia in 2001, and 
 
WHEREAS House Resolution 998 provides that the Governor shall appoint three members to the Commission on the 250th Anniversary of a Representative Assembly in Georgia, 
 
NOW THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY 
 
ORDERED That the following named persons be and they are hereby appointed as members of the Commission on the 250th Anniversary of a Representative Assembly in Georgia

That the forenamed members shall serve a term along with members appointed by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, according to House Resolution 998, and that the commission shall stand abolished on December 15, 1998
