Governor to Greet Georgia Troops Returning from Afghanistan
ATLANTA Governor Sonny Perdue will join Georgia's Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Terry Nesbitt, to welcome home approximately 300 Georgia National Guard soldiers from Afghanistan, TODAY, Wednesday, April 7 at 3:00 p.m.

The soldiers returning today are part of Georgia's 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, which performed as mentors and trainers to the Afghan National Police and Afghan National Army. The units on today's flight are the Headquarters of the 48th (Macon) which includes the 48th commander and staff; the remainder of the 48th BSTB- Brigade Special Troops Battalion (Statesboro and Macon) as well as the 148th Brigade Support Battalion (Forsyth, Jackson, Dublin). The 148th provides logistical support for the entire 48th Brigade (transportation, supply, medical and maintenance).
