Governor to Join U.S. Education Secretary Duncan, Other Governors at NGA Education Symposium 
 
ATLANTA  Governor Sonny Perdue will attend the 2009 Education Symposium co-hosted by the Hunt Institute and the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices Sunday, June 14, 2009 through Monday June 15, 2009. The symposium will focus on education priorities outlined in the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA), including the funding for states available in the "Race to the Top" program. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will deliver the keynote address on Sunday evening, discussing Race to the Top and the need for internationally benchmarked standards for the nation's public schools. His address will be accessible from the Hunt Institute's Web site, http://www.hunt-institute.org, beginning at 7:30 PM.
