Deal: Companies invest $100 million, create more than 280 jobs in Georgia 
Over the past week, Gov. Deal announced the plans of three internationally competitive companies to create collectively more than 280 jobs in Georgia, with more than $100 million in economic impact. 
"I've made it my goal to attract new industries and businesses to our state, whereby we can help people get back to work" said Deal. "Jobs afford Georgians the opportunity to rely less on government and more on themselves, while also allowing them to provide for their families."

Deal addresses 2014 graduates 
Gov. Deal addressed the 2014 graduating classes of both Georgia Southern University and Mercer University during Saturday's commencement ceremonies, and he also spoke to the graduates of Columbus State University on Monday evening. 
"The degrees you will receive today will undergird you with knowledge and skills that will enable you to soar," Deal said. "Now take what you have learned, and apply it to the challenges the future holds for you."

Deal kicks off third meeting for career initiative 
Gov. Deal delivered remarks at the High Demand Career Initiative meeting in Statesboro yesterday. 
"Through our efforts, we can support our students, support our businesses, support our economy and support the citizens of Georgia by drawing in more jobs," Deal said. "Together, we're building a communication structure that we can rely on as we continue to build upon past successes."

Last week, Gov. Deal and First Lady Sandra Deal welcomed the winner and finalists of the state's Poet Laureate Prize, a award bestowed annually for an original poem written by a Georgia high school student. 
 
Deal: Lee bypass will ease traffic 
Gov. Deal broke ground in Lee County on Thursday for the North Leesburg bypass. 
"I have prioritized keeping people and goods moving throughout our state, because I know what it means for our economy and quality of life," Deal said. "The North Leesburg Bypass, which represents a substantial investment in infrastructure in this area, will ultimately make trips to Lee County schools quicker and safer for students and others."

Upcoming event 
First Lady Sandra Deal today will deliver a commencement address at Kennesaw State University. 
 
Deal: Grant fuels healthcare industry 
Gov. Deal announced Thursday that the Georgia Research Alliance has been selected to receive a $499,636 planning grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). 
"Georgia's highly trained scientific workforce and worldclass universities make our state the first choice for collaboration on next generation technologies," said Deal. "Having this national partnership founded here allows for even greater research and development within our innovative health care companies."
